(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Following the release of an independent scientific study on hydraulic fracturing in California by the California Council on Science and Technology (CCST) and Berkeley Lab, Californians for Energy Independence issued this statement: "This sound science, coupled with the most comprehensive oil regulations in the nation, ensures California remains on a path of responsible production to secure our state's energy needs. Producing oil and gas here, under our toughest-in-the-nation standards, creates affordable energy for Californians and reduces our dependence on foreign oil while protecting quality jobs and revenue for vital programs," said Sabrina Lockhart, communications director...Read More >> READ MORE

Last week, California officially finalized regulations for hydraulic fracturing, which the Los Angeles Times described as “toughest-in-the-nation fracking rules”. The USA Today editorial board today wrote: Fracking — the practice of cracking open underground oil and gas formations with water, sand and chemicals — has rescued U.S. energy production from a dangerous decline. Any debate about banning it should take a hard look at what that would cost the nation and at facts that aren't always part of the discussion. Those facts are spelled out in a recent report from the Environmental Protection Agency on fracking and groundwater. One of the...Read More >> READ MORE

The truth is that the fracking facts are in. With the current drought situation, fracking in California has never been more under attack. The problem that still remains however, is a solution for any viable alternatives. The need to find alternatives for fossil fuels is up for little debate, but the advances in wind, solar and other natural sources are decades away from any sort of practical implementation. The cleanest fossil fuel is natural gas and banning California fracking just makes us more dependent on worse energy sources. A few of the key facts that should drastically...Read More >> READ MORE
